Description

The Holcombe Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is seeking applicants for multiple Postdoctoral Fellowship positions. These positions offer exceptional opportunities to contribute to research domains at Clemson University. The research programs in Electrical and Computer Engineering cover a wide spectrum of activities in the primary disciplines of computing and communications; energy systems; intelligent systems; and photonics, electronics and quantum systems. Within these areas, there are many specialized research laboratories supporting activities in high performance computing, sensor networks, computer vision, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, embedded systems, integrated circuits, bioelectronics, ion beam processing, advanced manufacturing, applied electromagnetics, microwaves, optics and photonics, lasers, fiber optics, integrated photonics, quantum devices and systems, controls, VLSI design, MEMS, electric vehicles, internet of things, renewable energy, smart grids, power electronics, energy systems, and more.


 

The Holcombe Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is one of the largest and most active departments at Clemson University, with 45 full-time faculty members, approximately 600 undergraduates, and 200 graduate students. Annual research expenditures exceed $13 million. Members of the faculty include five IEEE Fellows, four endowed chairs, and eight named professors. The ECE department offers ABET-accredited B.S. programs in electrical engineering and computer engineering, along with M.S. and Ph.D. programs in both disciplines, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Photonic Science and Technology.


 

Job Duties: The Postdoctoral Fellow will play a pivotal role in advancing these research areas with responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Conducting high-level research in one or more focus areas of 1) Computing and Communications; 2) Energy Systems; 3) Intelligent Systems; and 4) Photonics, Electronics and Quantum Systems.
  • Participating in grant proposal submissions.
  • Dissemination of research progress through conference papers and peer-reviewed journal articles.
  • Collaboration with other groups within and beyond the institution, including interfacing with both academic partners and industry collaborators.
  • Contributing to the mentorship and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students within the research group.

Qualifications

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
