Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Work on a project focused on the development of advanced multifunctional nanoparticulate systems for use in vaccine and drug delivery applications. The successful candidate is expected to design, synthesize, formulate, and characterize biodegradable synthetic macromolecules, summarize and interpret analytical data, develop methods relevant to interactions of these systems with therapeutic cargo, as well as biological targets, contribute to the structure-activity relationship analysis and interpretation of in vitro and in vivo biological performance, work with internal and external teams to expeditiously optimize formulations for further in vivo evaluation, and generate research reports and presentations for both internal and external use. Duties also include management of daily functions of the laboratory, including maintenance of common stocks of materials and reagents and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Education:
- A Ph.D. in synthetic organic or polymer science, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have at least two years of postdoctoral experience
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute in a multidisciplinary team setting
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
- Hands-on experience in the synthetic chemistry.
- Knowledge of basic physico-chemical characterization methods, such as NMR, HPLC, and DLS.
Preferences:
Preferences:
- Experience with multi-step organic synthesis is highly desirable;
- Experience in one or more of the following technical areas is desirable: biodegradable synthetic polymers, nanoparticulate drug delivery systems, protein encapsulation, controlled release applications.
Additional Information:
Salary range $62,000-$64,000.
