Research Post-doctoral Fellow Electrochemistry and Battery
Job Description
Full job description
This position is for a limited term of up to three years, renewable each year. The role is typically focused on performing publishable work as part of a strategic research program under the guidance of a program manager or other senior research staff member(s).
This position aims to develop new scientific knowledge, technologies, and engineering solutions for hazards in Li-ion batteries and energy storage systems. These solutions can prevent or control industrial property loss. Key research areas include the development of electrochemical and other techniques to characterize ageing and damage mechanisms of Li-ion batteries, such as Li plating/stripping, dendrite growth, and internal resistance changes prior to thermal runaway and electrical failure. The experimental studies at the cell and module levels will be integrated into battery risk profile and will provide loss prevention for battery energy storage systems at the system level.
- PhD degree in Electrochemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related technical fields.
- Strong background in electrochemistry, rechargeable battery chemistry including Li-ion, Na-ion, and solid-sate batteries, and energy storage systems.
- Extensive experience in various electrochemical techniques, such as CV, EIS, LSV, RDE, and other tools.
- Experience in assemble and test coin or pouch sized cells.
- Professional skills in SEM, XRD, XRF, FTIR, and TEM.
Excellent written and communication skills and demonstrated expertise in developing solutions for challenging technical problems.
