POSITION TITLE: Research Assistant III-Sanna Lab
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sanna Lab is seeking an individual skilled in biochemistry and molecular biology to contribute to a multidisciplinary effort studying the neurobiological and neuro-immunological bases of drug addiction. The role involves conducting research and performing various standard laboratory procedures, analyzing and interpreting data, troubleshooting methods, and potentially designing experiments. Additionally, routine equipment maintenance, guidance/training for department personnel, and other related duties will be required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience.
- Proficiency in field recording and long-term potentiation/long-term depression (LTP/LTD) is required.
- Candidates with a master's degree must have 3+ years of experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficient in pipette techniques with precision and accuracy, and comfortable using and learning software applications.
- Ability to perform molarity calculations for solution preparation.
- Experience with cell-based assays in cell plates, ELISA, fluorescence detection using a microplate reader.
- Familiarity with cell culture aseptic techniques, including handling, storage, and maintenance of primary and cell lines.
- Competence in cell transfection, including lipid-based and/or magnetofection, and handling of plasmids.
- Knowledge of antibody-based cell separation techniques using magnetic columns.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED TECHNIQUES:
- Experience with BSL2+ level biosafety for virus and viral vector work.
- Familiarity with flow cytometry (FACS).
- Knowledge of bio-layer interferometry using the Octet platform.
- Experience in sample preparation for mass spectrometry (Mass spec) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.
COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $68,000 to $81,600 per year, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
