About the Role:Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: NBIX) is offering the opportunity to gain rare disease patient engagement and advocacy experience in the world of biotechnology. Our intern program offers exposure to the national level patient advocacy function within a corporate affairs department. The Patient Engagement & Advocacy team has a strong reputation in the industry and among the broader patient advocacy community for building collaborative relationships with Patient Advocacy Organizations in both the rare disease and mental health space.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):Supporting a range of activities, including attending stakeholder meetings, preparing reports/presentations, and participating in cross-functional collaborative projects
Landscape assessments and mapping of key Patient Advocacy Organizations in relevant rare diseases
Literature and white paper searches on special topics such as the impact of patient engagement on drug development and models of engagement within industry
Supporting the implementation of sponsorships and programmatic support related to Huntington's Disease (HD), Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) and other rare diseases
Interacting with Patient Engagement & Advocacy (national and state teams), Corporate Communications, Government Affairs, Public Policy, Marketing and Clinical Development teams within the company
Collaborating with a mentor team of cross-functional team members as well as the other interns in the class
Completing a special project and presenting the recommendations to the Corporate Affairs team and other relevant departments upon completion
- Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with an interest in biotechnology
- Desirable Majors/Degrees: Economics, Political Science, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Biology, Public Health, Life Sciences
- Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry would be an asset but is not required
- Familiarity with biopharmaceutical technologies, physical and life sciences, product development, and regulatory approval processes is desirable
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to think creatively and be a team player
- Offer flexibility with a willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Bring to the Company a skill set complementary to its technology and development of therapeutics
- Interest in attending various program events, including social gatherings, career development workshops, and more
- Ability to commit to a 10-week, full-time summer program based in San Diego or Washington, DC
