Process Development Scientist III
Job Description
Experienced PD Scientist III will be responsible for designing and executing upstream or downstream manufacturing processes on plasmid DNA. The PD Scientist III will conduct a significant quantity of work which requires independent judgement.
Essential functions of this position:
- Independently devise new approaches to solving technical challenges. Develop technical solutions and execute series of experiments.
- Take the initiative on novel or complex problems, to improve, optimize, or implement new processes.
- Regularly interface with internal and external stakeholders, with more independence including technical presentations and customer meetings.
- Regularly provide information from technical publications, such as patents, to discuss with management and to plan potential future experiments
- Prepare sections of technical reports and presentations with minimal direction or oversight, based on work experience and independent thought.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemistry, or related scientific discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry or a comparable academic institution, performing in a process development, R&D, or manufacturing role
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art techniques for fermentation, alkaline lysis, tangential flow filtration, and/or purification processes for plasmid DNA
- Excellent presentation and communication skills for interfacing with internal and external stakeholders/customers
- Proficient in project management concepts
- Advanced knowledge of plasmid, protein, and/or RNA related analytics
- Willingness to give presentations at conferences or to customers, traveling as necessary
- Experience with mRNA and/or protein production is a plus
- Knowledge and experience with process characterization is desirable
The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in San Diego is $81,000.00-102,000.00. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc . Wacker is a multi state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
