University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)
The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), one of the world’s premier institutions devoted to life sciences in healthcare, seeks the next Dean of the School of Nursing and Associate Vice Chancellor of Nursing Affairs. UCSF is dedicated to advancing health worldwide through cutting-edge biomedical research, top-ranked graduate education, and excellence in patient care. The University is comprised of four professional schools and UCSF Health, an integrated healthcare network. The UCSF community includes over 27,000 employees and 3,200 students, along with around 2,800 clinical residents, fellows, and postdoctoral scholars.
Reporting to the UCSF Chancellor, the Dean of the School of Nursing will lead what is widely regarded as one of the most prominent schools of nursing in the world. The Dean will be charged with ensuring the continued strength of its academic, research, clinical, and service programs; furthering synergies with UCSF Health and other partners; and recruiting, supporting, and empowering a dynamic and diverse faculty, staff, and student body. To be successful, the Dean will have a keen understanding of nursing, healthcare, and higher education along with a deep commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
To fulfill accreditation requirements, the Dean must be a registered nurse (RN) with a graduate degree in nursing and an earned doctorate. The Dean must also have a current or eligible RN license to practice nursing in California and demonstrate scholarly distinction appropriate for a tenured appointment as a full professor at UCSF. Significant experience in nursing leadership, education, practice, and/or research is expected.
